Games of the World

These are the games and amusements most popular across the planes. When there aren’t bandit raids, dragon attacks, or cataclysmic showdowns between good and evil, you might catch a game in the local tavern or at a noble’s court.

Grit
Description: Who is the bravest? This deadly card game pits two players against one another to test their mettle in a duel to the death. Taking turns, the players wound themselves and their opponent in an attempt to become bloodiest without actually dropping dead. Famed game designer Zacharius Gage (of Spelltower and Guts of Glory fame) returns with yet another classic, most popular among gamblers and in taverns of ill-repute.
Rules: Grit

Three-Dragon Ante
Description: Once the preferred style of poker among the wealthy and would-be wealthy, Three Dragon Ante first took off in merchants’ guilds and palace courtyards. In these early days, the savvy player was sure to stack his or her deck with the most lethal and flashy combinations of priceless cards. Creator Tomlin Vasel, seeking to “bring the game to the people”, soon produced a codified set of official cards. While making the game more accessible and all but eliminating the ability to pay-to-win, certain players now turn their noses up at the “basic” game.
Rules: Three Dragon Ante, codified set
